Qualivis Revamps UMC Lubbock’s Labor Management

June 12, 2024 Jordan Robinson

University Medical Center (UMC) Lubbock faced persistent challenges with their previous healthcare staffing provider. Transitioning to Qualivis and its LotusOne technology, they received more attentive service and updated technology, resulting in fewer administrative burdens and a decrease in contingent labor spend.

Challenge: Outdated Staffing Technology Challenged UMC Lubbock

University Medical Center (UMC) Lubbock consistently experienced challenges when dealing with its previous healthcare staffing provider and their outdated technology. The medical center experienced many difficulties, but it mainly struggled with billing. It was extremely important to the facility to understand when its contingent labor spend met its budget targets and effectively balanced its labor resources. There were some instances when months-old invoices would not be processed. The medical center would contact its previous provider for follow-ups or advice on how to proceed but received little to no communication back. With continuous communication struggles and delays in email responses to inquiries, the team at UMC Lubbock began searching for a managed services provider (MSP) that had its best interests in mind.

Solution: Qualivis Delivered Cutting-Edge Solutions for UMC Lubbock

When conducting the search, the team at UMC Lubbock met a Qualivis representative at a healthcare recruitment conference and discussed similar issues other facilities experienced and how Qualivis mitigated those challenges.

The People. Our Qualivis representative came down and provided a comprehensive overview of Qualivis’ offerings, and having the Texas Hospital Association in our meetings to represent was also a plus. I really liked the technology platform, LotusOne, and getting to see the metrics that would be readily accessible.

Results: Qualivis Revolutionizes UMC Lubbock Staffing Through Efficiency & Cost Reduction

When a facility transitions to a new MSP, it can encounter challenges. However, Lindley explained how easy it was to integrate the medical center’s systems with Qualivis’ technology.

I’ve been with UMC Lubbock for more than 14 years and have heard issues about working with our previous provider. The issues negatively impacted operations and made it difficult to efficiently allocate time. LotusOne software streamlined our processes and freed time for our staff to establish a new series of workflow processes.

Prior to LotusOne reporting and market data, UMC Lubbock had little to no information on rates for job postings. This led to increased time-to-fill, insufficient market context for job listings and difficulty offering competitive rate packages that secured top-tier talent while staying on budget. By utilizing Qualivis’ market data to set competitive bill rates, UMC Lubbock secured laboratory OR technicians when before, these staffing needs had a long time to fill or remained vacant due to a lack of interest from noncompetitive rates.

With Qualivis’ dedicated program management team, UMC Lubbock managers benefit from streamlined workflow processes. Lindley highlighted the software’s ease of use and her appreciation for its integration with the medical system’s timekeeping software when generating reports. Before working with Qualivis, she used to spend large amounts of hands-on time with the previous platform, which consumed much of her bandwidth that could have been allocated to support other initiatives. Now, she can quickly access reports from LotusOne or communicates with her team at Qualivis and gets a rapid response for the reports and insights she needs. Since going live with Qualivis in December 2022, UMC Lubbock has seen an overall decrease in their spend on contingent labor resources. The medical center is eager to continue working with Qualivis and exploring its other offerings like permanent hiring initiatives to support it in hiring staff.
